Q: What is telehealth?
A: In mental health therapy, telehealth is the use of electronic platforms (such as videoconferencing) for the delivery of services.

 

Q: Do we offer telehealth?
A: iWellness UNY offers telehealth in accordance with the NY State principles and guidance for telepractice. You are welcome to see a therapist virtually, from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

 

Q: Is telehealth secure and private?
A: Yes. We use a HIPAA-compliant telehealth solution from TheraNest.

 

Q: Do I need to be tech-savvy to use telehealth?
A: No. Getting up and going with telehealth is very easy.

 

Q: Can multiple people join a telehealth session?
A: Yes. Multiple people can be in a single space (such as a couple in a single room), or multiple parties can join from different locations, resulting in a split-screen experience.

 

Q: What are the benefits of telehealth?
A: Saving driving time, ensuring social distancing, facilitating family / couples therapy when the parties are physically separated from each other, receiving therapy from the comfort and convenience of your own home.

 

Q: What are the challenges of telehealth?
A: Ensuring privacy in a busy household can be a challenge. Telehealth patients should try to find a dedicated, private space in their home from which they can connect to telehealth sessions. Telehealth also requires you to have a working webcam.

 

Q: What is your experience with telehealth?
A: We have successfully conducted hundreds of telehealth sessions, and telehealth clients are at least as satisfied as in-person clients.

 

Q: Can I combine telehealth and in-person treatment?
A: It is possible to engage in telehealth while also receiving in-person services, such as for neurofeedback.
